NEW CHEMICAL PERMEATION CHART OFFERS INVALUABLE HAND PROTECTION SUPPORT

Ensuring workers are equipped with the right Hand and Arm Protection when working with chemicals is one of the biggest challenges to those with responsibility for ensuring health and safety in the workplace.

How suitable a glove material is to protect against specific chemicals and how long that glove material will offer protection before its protective qualities are broken down are critical pieces of information in the hand protection selection process yet can be extremely difficult to identify.

But thanks to the launch of our brand new Chemical Permeation Chart, identifying the performance and protective qualities of our gloves against more than 140 common chemicals has become a lot easier.

Our new 12-page guide provides a simple to use and understand guide to selecting the right glove against a wide range of common workplace chemicals – giving key breakthrough time (BTT) information delivered in colour coded levels, ranging from level 1 – less than 10 minutes protection to level 6 offering over 480 minutes breakthrough time.

In addition to having performance data listed for over 20 of our key chemical protective gloves, the new chart also includes permeation performance and breakthrough time information for its disposable gloves, which have been tested against almost 100 workplace chemicals.

In addition to their common names, the chemicals listed throughout the new chart also have their Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number listed.

As well as in printed format, our new chemical permeation chart is also available in electronic format and an online recommendation guide is another useful tool we provide.

NITROTOUGH™ RANGE ENJOYS NEW ADDITIONS

Our NitrotoughTM range has been a real success since it was first launched and now we have added to it with the launch of two new products – the N1500PF and N1500 Orange and Yellow Viz PF.

Able to be used for a wide array of applications, from the food industry to construction and outdoor work, the new Nitrotough™ N1500 gloves offer the wearer a range of benefits that include comfort, dexterity, grip and abrasion resistance.

Food contact compliant, N1500 PF has enhanced grip as a result of the rough nitrile palm fit coating and offers great flexibility and comfort. The fit is also enhanced as a result of the latex knit wrist.

In addition to the food industry the glove is also ideally suited for those working in more challenging environments such as construction and general engineering. For those specifically working outdoors, we have also developed the N1500 Orange and N1500 Yellow Viz PF.

Benefiting from the same abrasion resistant rough nitrile palm fit coating, comfort and dexterity, the Nitrotough™ N1500 Viz PF is manufactured using a highly visible yellow or orange fluoro 13 gauge nylon liner, making it particularly suited to the construction sector or those in outdoor engineering environments.

Other benefits of N1500 gloves include them being Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 compliant making them free of any carcinogens, pesticides or phenol chlorine, with little or no formaldehyde, and manufactured with textiles that are accelerator free, with a neutral pH and with no added biocides.

MARIGOLD® INDUSTRIAL LAUNCHES WEB GAME TO PROMOTE HAND & ARM PROTECTION

Here at Marigold® Industrial we are challenging you to beat the clock and equip virtual staff with the right gloves for the job with our new online web game.

‘Glove Up’ – www.marigoldglovegame.com will see you pit your skills on 3 levels of difficulty trying to equip virtual members of staff with a pair of gloves from our cut resistant Puretough P Series featuring the new Indicator System.

When a level has been completed you will be asked a question and if you answer it correctly you will move on to the challenge of the next level.

Running from October to the end of 2011, players will be ranked by their scores, the person with the highest score taking the first prize of a trip to Portugal for 2 people. Other prizes available for high scorers will include an iPod Nano, a set of mobile speakers and also weekly high score prizes of USB sticks.

“We are delighted with the way Glove Up has been developed and hope as many people as possible take the time to play and see how they score. We will also have the game on our stand at the A+A exhibition and will be inviting people to take the challenge there. It is meant to be enjoyable, but there is still a message underlying the game – one of the importance of ensuring that workers are equipped with the right gloves for the job – especially when dealing with cut hazards,” said Melinda Ferrari of Marigold Industrial Ltd.

“Glove Up has been produced in a range of European languages and the scores will be listed on a leaders board so you will be able to see who is at the top of the leader board and how many points need to scored to be in with a chance of the taking one of the prizes, which should, we hope, create some healthy competition,” added Melinda.

With winter just around the corner, keeping hands dry, safe and warm in cold conditions takes on an added and important dimension – especially for those working outdoors.

Winter brings extra hazards with low temperatures not only slowing blood circulation and affecting natural levels of grip but with wet and windy conditions also attacking the skin’s natural defences.

For those faced with tough winter working conditions or indeed those who find themselves in freezing indoor environment’s, we offer a range of Hand and Arm Protection solutions depending on the work being undertaken.

With advances in fibre performance and manufacture, thermal protective gloves are not only warmer, but provide greater flexibility, dexterity and comfort, ensuring that hands can keep working even in the harshest conditions.

Our thermal protection range includes:

KT1 and KT2 Insulator™ range – ideally suited for use in the food and fishing industries, the KT1 and KT2 are manufactured using Thermolite® fibre providing good thermal performance and excellent wicking properties. The glove can be used as a liner or on its own.

PX Insulator™ – Providing excellent comfort, dexterity and abrasion performance, the PX Insulator is ideal for use in cold stores, construction and outdoor work being made with a seamless knitted 13 gauge blue thermal-active fibre with a blue coating on the palm and finger tips. The thermal active fibre wicks perspiration away from the skin and dries 50% faster than cotton.

Yellow and Orange Viz PF Insulator™ – For use when really high performance against cold environments is required the VIZ PF Insulator™ is ideally suited for those working in construction and service industries, the public sector and in chilled cold stores.
